Ranchi, July 3: Hemant Soren, accompanied by senior leaders including Rajesh Thakur and Ghulam Ahmed Mir of the Congress, presented a letter of support from ruling party MLAs to Governor CP Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan today. Alongside outgoing Chief Minister Champai Soren, Congress MLA Pradeep Yadav, CPI (ML) MLA Vinod Singh, and RJD MLA Satyanand Bhokta were also present during the submission.
The move follows a decision taken earlier today in a meeting of ruling party MLAs at the Chief Minister’s residence to transition leadership in the state. Hemant Soren emerged as the consensus choice for Chief Minister, endorsed by State Congress in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir. Mir cited Hemant Soren’s leadership role in previous electoral victories and his enduring influence within the alliance.

Political analysts view Hemant Soren’s return to leadership as strategically timed, given the upcoming assembly elections in four months. His leadership, bolstered by recent electoral successes, is expected to strengthen the alliance’s electoral prospects.
Meanwhile, opposition leader Babulal Marandi of the BJP criticized the leadership change, alleging that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) prioritizes only the interests of Shibu Soren’s family over broader tribal representation. Marandi expressed disappointment, claiming the JMM has diminished the stature of tribal leaders outside the Soren family.
