Hemant Soren to take oath as Jharkhand CM for 4th time today

Prominent INDIA bloc leaders to attend swearing-in ceremony

Ranchi, November 27: After a landslide victory in the assembly elections, Hemant Soren will take oath as the Chief Minister for the fourth time on Thursday.

Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Soren at 4 pm.

This will be the 49-year-old JMM leader’s fourth stint as chief minister.

Sources in JMM confirmed that Hemant Soren will be sworn in as the chief minister while the cabinet expansion will take place on a later date.

“Discussion on cabinet formation between the alliance partners (Congress-RJD-CPI-ML)  is not yet complete. Satisfying the alliance partners is a big challenge and who will be included in the cabinet will be decided later. The seat sharing formula between the parties involved in the alliance has not been decided yet,” said a Ranchi-based JMM leader.

Especially the inclusion or non-inclusion of CPI-ML in the cabinet will be clear only after  November 29  as they will take a call on being part of the government or support it from outside after their standing committee meeting to be held in Ranchi.

A maximum of 12 ministers including the chief minister can be made in Jharkhand.

Along with demonstrating the unity of the coalition, preparations have been made to make the swearing-in ceremony grand and historic.

Many big national leaders will attend this ceremony, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, former Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, former CM Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray, former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav, Telangana CM Revanch Reddy, Karnataka deputy CM, D. K Shivakumar, Tamil Nadu CM Uday Stalin, PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti, CPI-ML general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya and former Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik.

The state government has declared all these dignitaries as state guests. The Cabinet Coordination Department has issued an order related to this.

Changes have been made in the traffic system in Ranchi city regarding this. An order has been issued by Ranchi Traffic SP on Wednesday. According to the order issued, there will be no entry of big vehicles in the city from 8 am to 10 pm on November 28. At the same time, entry of small and big cargo vehicles will also be banned in the city till 8 pm. Apart from this, e-rickshaws will also not run in the city from 12 noon to 8 pm.

Apart from this, on November 28, from 11 am to 8 pm, the operation of auto and e-rickshaws will be completely stopped at Argora Chowk, Sahajanand Chowk, New Market Chowk, Hotlips Chowk and Ram Mandir Chowk.

Vehicles coming from Garhwa, Palamu and Latehar will be parked at Police Line Ground, in the opposite direction of CM residence while vehicles coming from Khunti, Chaibasa and Jamshedpur can be parked at Ranchi University Ground, next to Sido-Kanhu Park.

In the recent Assembly elections, Soren’s JMM-led alliance stormed to victory, securing 56 seats in the 81-member assembly, while the BJP-led NDA managed 24 seats.

“This is a victory of the people and their vision for a peaceful and progressive Jharkhand,” Soren said in his victory speech.

“It’s heartening to have such esteemed leaders join us for this important occasion,” said Soren, who along with senior officials paid a visit to Morabadi ground on Wednesday evening to take stock of the preparations for the swearing-in ceremony.

JMM achieved its highest-ever tally in the elections, winning 34 of the 43 seats it contested.

Congress secured 16, RJD 4, and CPI(ML) bagged 2 seats in the INDIA bloc.
