CM Hemant Soren Pushes for Voter Enrollment Drive

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren called for an intensive state-wide campaign to ensure every eligible citizen joins the voter list, emphasizing that no rightful voter should face exclusion. Addressing a training program on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the CM stated that updating names and correcting errors is a vital shield for democratic rights.

JMM Mobilizes Leaders Across 12 Districts

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) organized the training session at the Chief Minister’s residence on Kanke Road. For the second consecutive day, MPs, MLAs, and office bearers from 12 districts joined detailed discussions on the SIR process and the upcoming census to strengthen organizational preparedness.

Soren urged party workers to activate networks at the booth, panchayat, block, and district levels. Citing the shifting political climates in neighbouring Bihar and West Bengal, he cautioned cadres to remain alert and prepared for any challenges arising during the revision process.

Strengthening the Grassroots Structure

The Chief Minister highlighted that the current political landscape demands increased organizational responsibility. He directed leaders to fortify the party structure in both rural and urban metropolitan committees to maintain a dominant grassroots presence.

Concerns Over Marginalized Communities

During the meeting, JMM leaders alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) might exploit the SIR process to disenfranchise tribals, locals, and backward communities. They expressed fears that errors in the voter list could eventually deprive these groups of essential welfare benefits like ration cards and pensions.

The meeting, conducted by JMM General Secretary Vinod Kumar Pandey, saw the attendance of senior leaders including Kalpana Soren, Supriyo Bhattacharya, and Mathura Prasad Mahto, alongside representatives from districts including Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Giridih, and East Singhbhum.
