Ranchi: In a noteworthy move, the Hemant government in Jharkhand is set to bestow a significant gift upon the families of agitators. It has been decided that a five percent horizontal reservation will be allocated to dependents of agitators in state government job vacancies. The provision aims to grant five percent horizontal reservation to one dependent of each agitator specifically in class III and IV government appointments within the state.
This reservation benefit will be a one-time allocation for the protesting family members. To implement this initiative, amendments are underway to the Jharkhand Reservation in Vacancies in Posts and Services (for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Backward Classes) Act, 2001. In addition to the reservation for agitators’ dependents, women will also benefit from a five percent horizontal reservation in job vacancies, further emphasizing the government’s commitment to inclusive employment practices.
