Jamshedpur, June 10: Jharkhand, including Kolhan region, grappled with scorching heat and severe heatwave conditions, causing discomfort among residents. On Monday, severe heatwave conditions prevailed in several districts, including Garhwa, Palamu, East Singhbhum, Ranchi, Saraikela-Kharsawan, and Deoghar. Garhwa district recorded the highest temperature at 45.3 degrees Celsius.
In Jamshedpur, the mercury soared to 43.6 degrees Celsius, while Saraikela recorded 44.4 degrees Celsius and West Singhbhum touched 41.9 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, relief from the severe heat and heatwave is unlikely until June 14. Thunderstorms, lightning, and isolated drizzles are expected in some areas of the state during the afternoon, providing temporary respite.
On Tuesday, rain accompanied by thunderstorms is anticipated in the southern districts, including East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Saraikela Kharsawan. Meanwhile, severe heatwave conditions persisted in districts such as Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Deoghar, Godda, Jamtara, and Dumka. A yellow alert for heatwave has been issued in several other districts, including Ranchi, Khunti, Simdega, Gumla, Lohardaga, Latehar, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Koderma, Giridih, Deoghar, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Saraikela Kharsawan.
