Health Infra push in Jamshedpur, 29 Health Sub Centers Operational

Jamshedpur: A high-level review meeting was conducted at the Collectorate Auditorium, Jamshedpur, to assess the implementation of health schemes under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) and the 15th Finance Commission.

The meeting, chaired by Deputy Development Commissioner  Aniket Sachan, focused on reviewing the status of construction and operation of Health Sub Centers and Block Public Health Units (BPHUs) sanctioned between 2021-22 and 2024-25.

Out of 52 health sub-center projects approved with a total allocation of Rs 13.87 crore, 29 sub-centers have been successfully completed and made operational, delivering basic healthcare services to rural populations. Construction is actively underway in most of the remaining centers, with 80% work completed in several schemes. One project is currently in the agreement stage, and one remains stalled due to land issues.

The Deputy Development Commissioner directed that alternative land be identified for the stalled project and instructed officials to accelerate pending constructions to ensure time-bound delivery of healthcare services.

Regarding Block Public Health Units, of the 8 sanctioned BPHU schemes: 2 units (Haldipokhar and Baharagora in Potka block) have entered the handover stage, 5 units are under active construction, and 1 unit is pending foundation stone laying, for which urgent action has been ordered.

Emphasizing quality and efficiency,  Sachan instructed weekly monitoring of all under-construction units and mandated the submission of utility certificates for completed projects. These measures are expected to ensure transparency, accountability, and timely operation of facilities.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including: Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal, Additional Deputy Commissioner  Bhagirath Prasad, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (JNAC)  Krishna Kumar, District Planning Officer  Mrityunjay Kumar, District Engineer and engineers from relevant technical departments, Assistant Municipal Commissioners from Mango and Jugsalai Municipal Councils.

The review meeting underscored the administration’s commitment to building a robust public health infrastructure, ensuring that every health unit is not only built but also effectively run. The operational sub-centers are already catering to the healthcare needs of thousands, and the swift completion of remaining projects is expected to further strengthen rural and block-level healthcare access in East Singhbhum.
