‘Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega’: Take 5 Communications’ centenary tribute to Raj Kapoor

Kolkata, September 27: Take 5 Communications, Kolkata’s creative organization headed by filmmaker Tathagata Bhattacherjee, paid a musical tribute to the original showman of Indian cinema, Raj Kapoor on his birth centenary year at the Phoenix Hall of the prestigious Saturday Club Kolkata. The thematic event titled, ‘Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega’ showcased some timeless melodies from Raj Kapoor films taking the full house audience on a nostalgic trip back to the golden era of Hindi film music.

The show started with an audio visual presentation of the Showman …a collage of some of his immortal songs and dialogues which created the much needed ‘retro’ ambience for what followed…the incredible live music….solo and duet performances that touched the chords of the viewers who were cheering for more. Renditions by Raja Hussain, Ahana Ghosh, Pramod Singh, Ratan Jhawar and Sudeshna Chakraborty took the packed hall on a mesmerizing journey of Raj Kapoor’s immortal classics.

The solo numbers included ‘Mera Joota Haye Japani’, ‘Awara Hoon’, ‘Ae Bhai Zara Dekh Ke Chalo’, ‘Dost Dost Na Raha’, ‘Ek Din Bik Jayega’ among others while the duets boasted of ‘Yeh Raat Bheegi-Bheegi’, ‘Aa Ja Sanam Madhur Chandni Mein Hum’, ‘Pyar Hua Iqrar Hua’and more. The show ended with the iconic song ‘Jeena Yahan Marna Yahan’ which proved to be the perfect finale to this archival event.

In addition to the music which created an indelible rapport with the mesmerized audience throughout the two hour show, there were brief talks on Raj Kapoor films by filmmakers, scholars, educationists and corporate personalities who were among the niche audience.

Take 5 Communications had done MUKESH 100 and DEV ANAND 100 in 2023 and with RAJ KAPOOR IOO now, the organization intends to bring more such meaningful presentations in the times to come. After all, the show must go on…
