Jamshedpur, Nov 16: Panic gripped Gadiwan Patti in the Parsudih police station area late last night after a family dispute escalated into gunfire.
The sudden sound of bullets sent residents rushing indoors, triggering widespread fear.
While no injuries were reported, the incident has left the locality on edge. Police have identified the accused and launched raids at multiple locations to arrest them.
According to sources, Javed, a resident of Kitadih who works in Bengaluru, had recently returned home.
Late in the night, he allegedly found his wife, Heena Khatun, talking to an unknown person on her mobile phone.
When Javed objected, a heated argument broke out between the two. It is alleged that during the confrontation, Heena called her family members to the spot.
Javed claims that within minutes, his in-laws arrived, and the situation escalated so drastically that shots were fired at him.
He managed to escape unhurt and immediately informed the police.
Javed has named his wife Heena Khatun, brother-in-law Md. Riyashad, father-in-law Md. Liaquat, and several unidentified persons as accused in the case.
Parsudih police have confirmed the firing incident and said raids are underway to apprehend the suspects.
Police patrolling has been intensified in the area to prevent any further untoward incidents.
Local residents have demanded a fair investigation and swift arrests.
