Jamshedpur, June 21: The ground breaking ceremony of the “Kudy Mahanty Auditorium” was performed at JUSCO School, Kadma, on 21st June.
The agreement for construction of auditorium, to be built within the premises of the JUSCO School, Kadma, by JUSCO, was signed on the 17th February 2017 between Rupa & Niroop Mahanty and JUSCO Education Mission (JEM) Foundation, in memory of their daughter, for use by those schools which do not have such a facility.
On the occasion of birthday of Kudy Mahanty a simple ceremony was held on Wednesday which was attended by Rupa Mahanty, Niroop Mahanty, Sunil Bhaskaran, VP(CS), Tata Steel, Ruchi Narendran, Patron, AIWC & Managing Trustee, JEM Foundation, Ashish Mathur, MD, JUSCO, Vandana Mathur, Principals of various schools, Jatinder Singh from JUSCO, etc. A special feature was the presence of priests from different faiths who blessed the site.
The auditorium, to be built within the premises of the JUSCO School, Kadma, by JUSCO will be absolutely state of the art with climate control, digital audio visual facilities, aligned seating with a capacity of 300, etc. The Mahanty’s, who are financing the project hope and believe this will prove to be a very sought after facility by the schools and children of the city and will perpetuate the memory of their daughter, Kudy. Construction will start immediately and it is expected to be completed within 2 years.
In their philanthropic endeavours, the Mahantys run two trusts, one is The Kudy Mahanty Chiren�s Opportunity Trust and the other is the Kudy Mahanty Childrens Educational Opportunities (kmceotrust.com) which provides scholarships for higher education to needy and meritorious children to pursue their education.
Jusco Education Mission (JEM) Foundation, a registered trust was established in 2008 by Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company to ensure the growth and sustainability of the undertaken educational initiatives in the area where company operates.
