Jamshedpur, April 19: The second wave of Corona virus has wreaked havoc across the country. Jamshedpur has been the worst hit due to the pandemic. According to the latest report of the East Singhbhum health department, 639 new corona cases have come on Monday, April 19 and 10 people have lost their lives.
The positivity rate rose to 3.56 per cent in Jamshedpur.
The cumulative coronavirus case count stands at 25038 and the death count is now 457, according to the latest health bulletin.
The new cases came out of the 4652 tests conducted on Monday.
The best efforts of the state government and district administration will not pay dividends until and unless people themselves realize that the second wave is already knocking down human wickets and it is high time to take a defensive stance to avoid further blows.
Of the 639 new cases, 611 are from Jamshedpur urban area, 9 from Musabani, 8 from Ghatsila, 5 from Patamda and 2 each from Baharagora, Dumaria and Potka.
There are 4306 active COVID-19 cases in Jamshedpur. The infection tally in the Steel City has gone up to 25038 and a total of 457 fatalities due to the disease have been recorded so far.
As many 20275 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far with 178 recoveries recorded in the last 24-hours. Over 4500 COVID-19 tests, including 2065 RT-PCR, 2257 RAT were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city. The hotspot areas of the Steel City Mango, Kadma, Sonari, Bistupur and Sakchi continue to witness a virulent spread of COVID.
The district administration said it would go for aggressive containment and stricter enforcement of health protocols such as wearing masks and keeping social distance.
The surge has led to an increase in hospitalisation.
East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 264232 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur has dropped down to 83.1034% while the mortality rate is 1.83 %.
So far in Jamshedpur 715976 samples have been collected out of which 703385 have been tested and 678347 have turned out to be negative.
