Jamshedpur: The two day workshop organized for Gram Pradhans concluded here at Tetla Guesthouse in Jadugora on Wednesday. The participants raised demand for implementing the Ghatwari system of self governance in the state.
They said the system was implemented in the state before the Mughal period. They threatened to wage a massive agitation in the state in case theri demands are not met.
One of the speakers of the workshop, Uttam Kumar Singh, president of Paramparik Swasashan Gram Pradhan, said the government should strictly implement PESA in areas coming under the Fifth Schedule.
He said the projects selected by the Gram Pradhans should be given approval. He said the villagers would become paupers after the setting up of Land Bank.
Among those present on the occasion included Shatrughan Sardar, Sunil Sardar, Piyush Mandal, Gopal Puran, Vinod Nayak, Jagdish Mandal, Amulyo Pradhan, Guhiram Sardar and Vinay Krishna Das.
