Ranchi: State government here on Monday issued an order to shut down all illegal slaughterhouses across Jharkhand within next 72 hours.
The Principal Secretary of the state Home Department, SKG Rahate, who issued the orders, sent a letter to all deputy commissioners (DCs), senior superintendents of police (SSPs), SPs, municipal corporations and bodies directing them to implement the order.
In the letter, Rahate asked the authorities in all the districts of the state to ensure that the legally-running slaughterhouses follow the norms and conditions laid down for them by the departments of animal husbandry and health and the respective municipal corporations.
The Home Secretary asked the district authorities across the state to serve notices to all unauthorized slaughterhouses to bring down their shutters within the next 72 hours or else stringent action will be taken against them. The authorities have been warned against allowing slaughterhouses to run in their areas of jurisdiction.
All police station authorities have also been asked to shut down illegal slaughterhouses in their areas.
The sub divisional officers will be nodal officers to check whether the government directive is being followed or not. They will keep monitoring whether action is being taken effectively to comply with the order or not, Rahate said in the notification.
