Jamshedpur : The Jharkhand Government is working out an effective mechanism to strengthen the public distribution system (PDS) in the State with an aim to remove irregularities and help the people living in remote areas to receive the Government schemes in much efficient way.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister Saryu Roy said that the Government wants to minimize the control of the retail traders on the PDS administration and for this the Government will take innovative steps. “The Government has resolved to start the new system PDS and will give them to the retail traders to run the centres on contract basis. This will help the Government to keep a vigil on activities of the traders and dealers,” noted Roy.
“RIFD technology is very effective and efficient in keeping count of each and every sack of food grain that is on the move and this instrument will be pressed into service in the PDS soon. The headquarters of the system will be placed at Ranchi so that the authorities can take action accordingly. RFID is a technology that uses communication via radio waves to exchange data between a reader and an electronic tag attached to an object, for the purpose of identification and tracking.
He said that biometric mechanism will be implemented in all the delivery system of the State to ensure effective distribution of the benefits of the schemes.
Roy has said that Mukhya Mantri Daal Bhat Yojana will continue even at night Daal Bhat Yojana used to function only during daytime by the women self help groups providing food at Rs 5 for the poor.
Now it will function even at night.
Meanwhile Roy inaugurated a renovated traffic roundabout dedicated to freedom fighter Khudiram Bose at Mango. Spread in nearly 5000 sq ft named as Khudiram Bose Square is popularly known as Mango Chowk.
It is at the entrance point of the city linking Mango bridge with NH-33. Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC), the local urban body incurred Rs 10.76 lakh during the renovation work.
