Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren today said the state government was making sincere efforts to honour the families of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country. He said the martyrs� families would be given all possible assistance including jobs by the government.
Soren was speaking to a gathering on the occasion of celebration of the 198th birth anniversary of Thakur Vishwanath Shahdeo at Dhurwa roundabout. He paid homage to Shahdeo by garlanding his bust. He also planted a sapling in the memory of the former freedom fighter.
In his address, Soren said Shahdeo had played an important role in the first fight for independence way back in the year 1857. He said the state was proud of its martyrs who laid down their lives for the country�s independence.
He said the government was doing its best to ensure that the martyrs� dependents existing today get employment and financial assistance.
