Government could not complete CMP work: Bhagat

Jamshedpur: State Congress president Sukhdev Bhagat today expressed his displeasure with the functioning of the state government and its performance. He said the government had failed to live up to the expectations of the people. He said works were not fully carried out under the common minimum programme as fixed by the states ruling alliance.

The Congress president was speaking to mediapersons at Sakchi after attending a host of Labour Day programmes held in the city. He said Congress was not going to participate in any sort of alliance with any party just to save the state government from collapse. He said Jharkhand Mukti Morcha should take the initiative to improve the situation.
Bhagat said so far no MLA had resigned from the Assembly yet. Hence it would not be proper to call the government as being in minority. Only the floor test should make things clear as regards the status of the government, he said.

Bhagat further said, A meeting will be held with the ruling alliance partners once the Lok Sabha election results are out. Priorities will be chalked out in the larger interest of the state and the people. Many decisions will be taken on electricity, education and other issues. All departments will be asked to ensure timely completion of the various projects. For this a meeting of departmental ministers and officials will also be convened.

Voicing his opinion on bureaucrats joining politics, Bhagat said he was personally against such a trend.

Bureaucrats taking to politics is not justified. When they are in service, they are least bothered about serving the people. But when they retire from job, they are overwhelmed by the idea of social service. Therefore their joining politics as well as giving them election ticket are unjustified, said Bhagat.
