Jamshedpur, June 27: A 10-year-old student of Ghatsila-based Irvine Adventist School, Ram Chandra Giri was found dead atop the roof of a private hostel on Monday. Giri resided in the hostel.

The victim was a Class-III student of the private English cradle located at Gopalpur in Ghatshila. The double-storied hostel, Bethany House, where his body was found is located 3 km away from the school.

As the news spread, agitated local residents put up a blockade on the National-Highway-33 between Phuldungri and Kasidah Chowk, to protest the child’s unnatural death.

The protestors demanded action against the hostel management and also a probe into the circumstances that led to the alleged murder of the school kid.

The hostel management informed the victim’s father, Pankaj Giri, a resident of Khejuria village in Chakulia, about 40 km from Ghatshila. Pankaj is a worker of a Dhalbhumgarh-based private factory.

Police took into custody Masih Minz and Sarita Minz, the husband-wife duo, who used to run the private hostel where the student was found dead. Four minor students, who were boarders of the hostel, were also taken into police custody for interrogation.

Meanwhile, the blockade on the NH-33, which began at around 12.30 p.m., was lifted at 4 p.m. after East Singhbhum rural SP Md. Arshi went to the spot and assured the protestors that police have begun probing into the incident and would soon arrest those involved in the crime.
