Jamshedpur: In preparation for the Ghatshila Assembly by-election 2025, comprehensive training was conducted for the EVM dispatch and receiving teams at Cooperative College under the direction of District Election Officer (DEO) Karn Satyarthi. The training aimed to ensure a seamless and transparent polling process by equipping officials and personnel with detailed operational knowledge and procedural clarity.
During the session, officers were given in-depth instructions on the safe packing, dispatch, and receipt of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), along with logistics arrangements and handover protocols to the Returning Officer. The emphasis was on maintaining precision and accountability at every stage of machine handling to guarantee the integrity of the voting process.
Officials and staff assigned to the control room for polling day were also briefed on their respective roles and responsibilities. They received special instructions regarding the functioning of communication systems, timely reporting, grievance redressal procedures, and swift response mechanisms in case of emergencies.
District Election Officer Satyarthi urged all participants to strictly adhere to the Election Commission’s guidelines and the prescribed timelines. He underscored that discipline, vigilance, and teamwork are the cornerstones of a successful and error-free election process.
The EVM dispatch team was instructed to ensure that each polling party receives machines allocated to their correct polling stations after thorough verification of serial numbers, labels, and seals. They were also directed to collect signatures on the dispatch receipts, promptly report any technical faults to the technical team, and complete all dispatches within the scheduled time frame.
Similarly, the EVM receiving team was guided on post-poll procedures, including checking the integrity of seals and tags, recording details in the receiving register, and depositing the control units securely in the strong room. They were also asked to keep the VVPAT, ballot unit, and control unit organized separately, prepare immediate reports in case of damage or malfunction, and ensure the safe custody of all related documents and receipts.
The training concluded with a renewed call for accountability and coordination among all election personnel to uphold the sanctity and smooth execution of the democratic process in Ghatshila.
