Ghatshila by-election: Home voting to begin from November 2

Jamshedpur: Home voting for senior citizens aged 85 years and above and voters with at least 40 percent disability in the 45-Ghatshila (ST) Assembly by-election will begin from November 2. Under this facility, polling staff will visit the homes of eligible voters to conduct postal ballot voting. The home voting process will be carried out in two phases — from November 2 to 7 in the first phase and from November 9 to 10 in the second.

Meanwhile, postal ballot voting for government employees and other eligible categories of voters on election duty is already underway at the Facilitation Center located at the Women’s University, Jamshedpur. Voting began on October 30, and a total of 117 voters have exercised their franchise in the first two days — 56 on the first day and 61 on the second.

According to information received from the Ballot Paper Section, postal ballot voting is being conducted daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Government officials and employees, polling personnel, police force, home guards, drivers, conductors, and videographers are casting their votes at the Facilitation Center.

The schedule for postal ballot voting has been fixed as follows: officials and employees on election duty will vote on October 30 and 31, November 3 and 4, and November 6 to 8. Essential Service Providers (AVES) will vote from November 5 to 11, while officers and staff deputed to the treasury of the Returning Officer, Ghatshila, will cast their postal ballots from November 8 to 10.

The district administration has appealed to all eligible voters to participate actively through postal and home voting to ensure maximum voter turnout and uphold the spirit of free and fair elections.
