District Election Officer and SSP inspect Cooperative College, Issue Directions for EVM Dispatch and Receiving Centre Setup
Jamshedpur: In view of the upcoming 2025 Ghatshila Assembly by-election, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi and Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey inspected the Cooperative College premises on Thursday. The inspection was conducted to review preparations for setting up the EVM dispatch and receiving center.

It is noteworthy that polling parties for the 45-Ghatshila Assembly constituency will be dispatched from the Cooperative College. After polling, EVM sets will also be received at the same venue. To ensure smooth and systematic arrangements, both senior officials inspected the campus and issued necessary directives to the officials present on-site.

The District Election Officer instructed the engineer of the Building Construction Department to expedite the construction of the strong room within the college campus and to install barricades as per requirement. He also directed officials to ensure proper arrangements for the dispatch and receipt of polling parties.

During the inspection, special emphasis was laid on the proper distribution of election materials among polling parties, maintenance of EVMs and VVPATs, and adequate parking space for vehicles of polling parties and election officials. Officials were also directed to ensure the availability of basic amenities such as drinking water, toilets, electricity, and medical facilities. Instructions were given to set up a help desk and make seating arrangements for reserve staff, micro observers, and medical teams.

The District Election Officer stressed the importance of coordination among all departments to ensure the smooth execution of election-related tasks.
Present during the inspection were City SP Kumar Shivashish, District Transport Officer Dhananjay, Deputy Election Officer Mrs. Priyanka Singh, District Public Relations Officer Panchanan Oraon, Engineer from the Building Construction Department, DSPs, police station in-charges, and other concerned officials.
Ghatsila Bypoll: Social media under close watch
Jamshedpur: Close monitoring of social media activities, ensuring the availability of all essential polling materials, and proper coordination among different departments were emphasized during a high-level meeting for the Ghatsila Assembly By-Election 2025, chaired by District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Karna Satyarthi at the Collectorate Auditorium, Jamshedpur.

The meeting was attended by senior, nodal, and assistant in-charge officers from all departments involved in election preparations. Satyarthi instructed officers to strictly adhere to the Election Commission’s guidelines and discharge their duties with complete fairness, impartiality, and transparency. He emphasized that all departments should operate in mission mode as per their action plans for the by-election.
During the session, the District Election Officer reviewed the preparedness of key election-related cells, including the Election Cell, Personnel Cell, EVM Cell, SVEEP Cell, Material Cell, Expenditure Accounting Cell, Ballot Cell, Vehicle Cell, Training Cell, IT Cell, MCC Cell, Media and MCMC Cell, Control Room, Observation Cell, and PWD Cell. Detailed discussions were held regarding implementation of their respective action plans.
Satyarthi stressed that even minor negligence in election duties would not be tolerated. The SVEEP Cell was directed to expand voter awareness campaigns so that every eligible voter is informed and motivated to exercise their voting rights. The Personnel Cell was instructed to prepare an accurate, error-free personnel list, and the Training Cell was tasked with finalizing the training calendar and providing timely training to all election personnel. The EVM Cell was directed to ensure availability and readiness of all EVMs for both training and polling, while the Vehicle Cell was asked to confirm vehicle arrangements according to requirements. Assembly-wise arrangements at dispatch and receiving centers were to be made following prescribed SOPs.
Present at the meeting were Deputy Development Commissioner, ADM (Law & Order), Special Allocation Officer, District Transport Officer, Deputy Election Officer, District Welfare Officer, District Public Relations Officer, LRDCO, District Cooperative Officer, DPM JSLPS, and other concerned officials.
Concluding the meeting, Satyarthi urged all officers to perform their duties with dedication and responsibility, ensuring that the Ghatsila by-election is conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner.
