Gangaur festival celebrated in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The Gangaur Festival was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm by the Sakchi branch of the Marwari Sammelan at the Swarnarekha River in Mango on Saturday.

Women from the Marwari community gathered in large numbers to perform the traditional collective immersion of Gangaur idols. Participants from different parts of the city brought their idols along with Javara (sacred sprouts) for immersion, marking the culmination of the festival.

The occasion was filled with joy and cultural vibrancy as women applied Abir and Gulal to one another, celebrating the spirit of the festival.

To ensure a comfortable experience for attendees, the Sakchi branch made arrangements for refreshments, including chilled water, sharbat, and snacks. Adding to the celebrations, around 300 married daughters and daughters-in-law were honored with gifts.

Gangaur festival at Jugsalai Rajasthan Shiv Mandir

Jamshedpur: The city’s Shri Rajasthan Shiv Mandir hosted a grand celebration of the Gangaur festival today. Women gathered in a beautifully decorated pavilion dedicated to ‘Isar’ and ‘Gangaur’ to perform morning rituals collectively.

In the afternoon, from 3:00 PM, hundreds of women participated in the rituals of offering water to Gangaur and uniting the deities. The temple administration arranged refreshments and beverages for the attendees. Key organizers contributing to the event’s success included Chhitar Mal Dhut, Arun Agarwal, Deepak Agarwal Ramuka, Sanwar Lal Sharma, Pawan Singodia, Vishwanath Sharma, Pawan Kabra, Sushil Sarva, Pandit Badrinath Sharma, Manoj Kedia, Kamal Agarwal, Mantu Agarwal, Rajesh, and others.

Grand community Gangaur Puja organized in Sitaramdera

Jamshedpur: The Bhalubasa branch of the Marwari Sammelan organized a grand community Gangaur Puja at Shri Shiv Durga Temple in Sitaramdera, drawing participation from dozens of families across the city.

Beautiful idols of Lord Isar and Goddess Gaura were installed for the occasion. Women began arriving early in the morning, and nearly 80 families from areas such as Sitaramdera, Bhalubasa, Bhuiyadih, and Agrico participated in the puja.

All participating women were honored with gifts. Many attendees appreciated the inclusive gesture, noting that such recognition was often limited to married women, whereas this event extended equal respect to all.

Branch President Pankaj Chhavchharia, encouraged by the enthusiastic participation, announced plans to organize a ‘Sindhara’ program next year with the blessings of Goddess Gangaur.

In the evening, the idols were taken in a lively procession accompanied by drums and dance, and later immersed at the banks of the Subarnarekha River, creating a spiritually uplifting and festive atmosphere.
