Jamshedpur, April 22: Gulmohur High School’s ideals reflected in its mission statement to empower individuals in becoming caring, competent and responsible citizens was unfolded on 22nd April ’22 during the Earth Day celebrations in the institution on Friday.

Awareness of enhancing fertility of the soil in an inorganic manner through a concept termed, ‘Lets be Earth Buddies – a save soil movement.’
The event was organized in collaboration with Save Soil Movement powered by the Isha Foundation. The Chief Guest for the occasion, Sanjay Sinha (Chairman – G.H.S Managing Committee). Other dignitaries from the Managing Committee as well as volunteers from the Isha Foundation were present on the occasion. The distinguished guests along with Principal Priti Sinha and Vice Principal Archana Srivastava planted saplings to promote environmental prosperity.

The non-competitive inter-school event was supported by 22 schools from Jamshedpur. Students from class III to class IX participated in various events including Stone Painting, Clay Art, Case Study and Group Discussions. Only organic and eco friendly material were used during the relevant events.

Principal Priti Sinha’s interest in making the students emotionally enriched and aware helped the school conceptualize this one-of-a-kind event. She ensured that these noble soldiers of the future take the Save Soil Pledge to save the bountiful soil back to its organic glory.

The students from the host and guest schools took the pledge to be Earth Buddies and carry the awareness back to their schools and share the knowledge they gained with their school mates and encourage them to be Earth Buddies too, who will work conscientiously towards replenishing the Earth back to its fertile self.
The students of the school have also written letters to the Prime Minister to initiate awareness and restorative programmes regarding the soil. The event included a short cultural programme based on the theme “Save Soil”. The entire event was organized by Gargi Mukherjee, Madhuchanda Sarkar, Vinita Krishnan, Jaswinder Kaur and other members of the faculty.
