Jamshedpur, Oct 13: Police in Jamshedpur have arrested four youths who were allegedly planning a robbery in the Kalyan Nagar area under the Sitaramdera police station area.
The arrests were made following a late-night operation based on a tip-off about the suspects gathering near the riverbank with illegal weapons.
City SP Kumar Shivashish, addressing a press conference on Monday, said that around 11 p.m. on October 12, police received information that some individuals were plotting a robbery in Kalyan Nagar.
Acting swiftly, a team led by City DSP and DSP Headquarters–1 was formed and launched a raid at the location.
During the operation, the police apprehended all four suspects and seized a country-made pistol, a firearm, and three mobile phones from their possession.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Kishan Gagrai (19), Mangal Gagrai (21), Karan Mundari alias Jhantu (25), and Abhay Namta (23) — all residents of Hume Pipe, Kalyan Nagar, Sitaramdera.
On interrogation, the accused confessed that they were planning to carry out a robbery in the locality.
They have since been remanded to judicial custody, and further investigation is underway.
