Jamtara: Four members of the same family died due to lightning in Jharkhand. The incident happened in Chandadih-Lakhanpur village of Narayanpur police station area of Jamtada district. A Banjara family from Kursila village in West Bengal’s Purulia district had been living in a tent in Chandadih-Lakhanpur village for a few days. Seven members of this family lived together like this.
It was raining heavily in the area on Sunday. The tent was suddenly struck by lightning and four people died on the spot. Neha Chaudhary (33 years), Ankit Chaudhary (11 years), Gagan Chaudhary (05 years) and Iksha Chaudhary (10 months) died. It was raining heavily outside and everyone inside the tent was watching videos on mobile phones.
Dhunu Chaudhary of this family said, we are a nomadic species. They wander in search of food and water and do not stay in one place. Where they buy the goods that are cheap, they sell them in other cities. In many places we also collect and save honey.
There were four people in the tent when the lightning struck. We were in another place where the children were sitting together watching online videos on their mobiles. Suddenly lightning struck and everyone was injured. We rushed them to the hospital where they were declared brought dead.
Dhunu Chaudhary says that even after reaching the hospital, we kept running here and there for the doctor. After 20 minutes the doctor came. AYUSH doctor Dr. Dilip Baraik reached, he saw and said that I am referring him to Sadar Hospital. There the doctors declared him dead.
