Fostering skills in youth is govt.ís priority: Raghubar Das

Ranchi, August 3: Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that fostering skills in the youth of the state is the Govt.ís priority.

For the speedy development of the state, skill development is indispensable. He said that the women of Jharkhand are laborious & their economic condition can be easily improved with skill development. Women should be given priority in skill development.

While addressing the people present on the occasion of signing MOU between Jharkhand Govt. & Tata Motors on establishing Institute of Driving Training & Research Center at Jamshedpur, he said that apart from driving, training should be imparted in vehicle maintenance also. A refresher course should also be run to train the untrained drivers & cleaners.

It should be noted that Institute of Driving, Training & Research Centers are to be established by Ministry of Road, Transport & Highways , Govt. of India with a view to maintain security on road in the 12th Five Year Plan. This MOU between Tata Motors & the State Govt. is the result of this initiation.

The Ministry of Road, Transport & Highways, Govt. of India has provided Rs. 17 crores for establishment of training institute & infrastructure development. The State Govt. is providing 12 acres of land without charging even a penny at Kashidih Mauja where different activities related to training of the drivers & cleaners will be carried out including preparing syllabus & providing motors & other facilities for training.

It is proposed to complete the Institute of Driving, Training & Research Center in 18 months. This institute aims at training more than 3,000 aspirants of LMV, LTV & Heavy transport Vehicle & refresher course to 15000 drivers. This institute will be equipped with Innovative Driving Testing System where driving test will be Camera based assessment & only well trained drivers will be given driving license.

The MOU was signed by Ratan Kumar, Secretary, Transport Department & Sanjiv Garg, Vice President & Global Head, Customer Care, C.V.B.U. from Tata Motors.

On this occasion, UDD Minister Mr. C. P. Singh, Chief Secretary Mr. Rajiv Gauba , Principal Secretary, Labour, Employment & Training Department, Mrs. Mridula Sinha, Principal Secretary to the CM Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Secretary to the CM Mr. Sunil Kumar Burnwal & senior officers of Tata Motors were present.
