Jamshedpur, August 3: The Jamshedpur Eye Hospital (JEH) has come a long way. Right from its establishment in 1961 and now in 2015 the eye care destination has seen a huge transformation.
The hospital managing committee on Tuesday, August 3, 2015 the same day back in 1961 when hospital was established, unveiled the new look eye hospital with renovated Patient Facility Area.
TV Narendran, MD Tata Steel was the Chief Guest for the occasion and inaugurated the new facilities at the hospital. Adarsh Agrawal, MD JAMIPOL was the guest of honour who is also main contributor for this project.
On the occasion TV Narendra addressing the gathering said, �This is the first time I have visited the Jamshedpur Eye Hospital and I am really impressed with the facilities here which is truly world class. As for Tata�s commitment towards society it doesn�t matter if the company is going through profit or loss we have always given back to the society as promised.
Ruchi Narendra, Chairperson of Jamshedpur Eye Hospital managing committee said that we have a vision for best eye care facility this is the reason we have given facelift to cater the patients facilities. �This is the first of the three phases of our upgradation plans. Altogether we have plans to invest 5 crore in the upgradation of the hospital which would make for a single stop solution for eye care�, she added.
Modern patient facilities include- Air conditioned reception, waiting hall and a separate admission lounge, Token distribution though automatic token vending machine, No queue registration system with audio- visual patient calling system, Help desk supported by trained Ophthalmic technician , Refraction by trained Optometrist, Branded optical outlet run by Titan and dispensing guaranteed items, Daily patient educational class on eye diseases and care by ophthalmic professional by audio visual display.
This wing will also have �Special Clinic Area� which is unique of its type in this region, providing Low vision aids for improving life of a proved case of visual impairment whose vision cannot be improved beyond 6/18, Squint assessment and prismatic correction clinic, Contact lens and prosthetic application clinic.
Cornea Donation Centre � supported by Roshni , NGO for eye donation, Cafeteria for hygienic refreshment, Conducting CMEs twice a week to update knowledge our Ophthalmologists and paramedical staff in the field of eye care of learning from masters by arranging surgical workshop and lectures by guest speakers of repute.
Also present on the occasion, Dr. S P Jakhanwal Hony. Secretary, JEH said that our future endeavor is to make a Modern OT complex and renovation of all other patient care areas, improving Support Services and acquiring modern medical equipment and bringing new subspecialty clinics like Cornea, Squint and Paediatric ophthalmology.
