Jamshedpur Mourns Loss of Former TMH HOD Dr. AB Balsara

Jamshedpur: The city’s medical fraternity suffered a great loss on Thursday following the passing of Dr. AB Balsara, one of Jamshedpur’s most senior physicians and the former Head of Department (HOD) of Medicine at Tata Main Hospital (TMH). Known for his simplicity and humility, Dr. Balsara leaves behind a legacy that has deeply touched the city’s intellectual and medical circles. Family sources confirmed that the final rites will take place on Friday at approximately 12:00 PM.

A Distinguished Career: From Nagpur to TMH

Dr. Balsara built an impressive career in medicine before arriving in the Steel City. He previously served as a Professor in the Medicine Department at the Government Medical College, Nagpur. After joining Tata Main Hospital, he eventually rose to the position of HOD of Medicine, a role he held until his retirement. Even after retiring, he continued to contribute to the field by serving as an examiner for DNB (Medicine) postgraduate degrees.

Recognition and Honors

In recognition of his exceptional service to society, IMA Jamshedpur specially honored Dr. Balsara in 2022. As one of the most senior life members of the Indian Medical Association, he earned the respect of colleagues who remember him as an incredibly knowledgeable individual who always prioritized patient welfare above all else.

IMA Expresses Condolences

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) expressed profound grief over his passing. IMA President Dr. GC Majhi, Secretary Dr. Saurabh Chaudhary, and other senior members described his death as an “irreparable loss” to the medical world. They noted that Dr. Balsara’s dedication and work ethic would remain a constant source of inspiration for future generations of doctors.
