Ranchi: In a startling revelation, former SP of Deoghar district, Subhash Chandra Jat, has brought forth serious allegations against the former DC of Deoghar, Manjunath Bhajantri. In a letter addressed to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Jail and Disaster Management Department, Subhash Chandra Jat has disclosed instances of Bhajantri allegedly targeting BJP MP Nishikant Dubey during his tenure as DC.
The letter, dated 20 Panay, highlights that Bhajantri consistently aimed at BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and frequently exerted pressure on the former SP to forcibly arrest Dubey. Subhash Chandra Jat, currently assigned to CBI for the Manipur violence investigation, further asserts in the letter that Bhajantri even pressured him to file a false complaint against Nishikant Dubey before the Lok Sabha committee.
The Lok Sabha committee was reportedly investigating a privilege motion initiated by MP Nishikant Dubey against Manjunath Bhajantri. According to the letter, Bhajantri not only sought to influence the committee’s proceedings but also allegedly pressured the SP to take wrongful actions against the MP. When the SP resisted these pressures, Bhajantri purportedly expressed dissatisfaction.
Moreover, the letter details an incident on July 31, 2023, when Bhajantri allegedly pushed for the arrest of MP Nishikant Dubey at Deoghar Airport while the latter was en route to Dumka to meet an acid attack victim. Bhajantri reportedly failed to provide security and vehicle facilities for the MP during his tours outside Deoghar.
Subhash Chandra Jat also claims in the letter that Bhajantri regularly sought secret files from district police station in-charges and investigating officers, despite the SP’s objections. The former DC allegedly insisted on reading these files against established protocols. Bhajantri’s purported lack of support for MP Dubey extended to pressuring the SP to arrest the MP in a case registered in Madhupur police station, with Bhajantri accusing Subhash Chandra Jat of siding with the MP.
