Ranchi: The hearing for the bail application of former Ranchi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Chhavi Ranjan, who is facing charges in a land scam, has been completed in the Ranchi PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) Special Court. During the proceedings held on Thursday, Special Public Prosecutor Ramit Satyendra presented arguments on behalf of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), while High Court advocate Abhishek Chaudhary advocated for Chhavi Ranjan.
Chhavi Ranjan’s legal team argued for his bail, asserting his innocence, while the ED contended that Chhavi Ranjan was fully aware of and involved in the land scams that transpired during his tenure as the DC of Ranchi.
Following the conclusion of arguments from both sides, the court will now deliberate and issue its verdict. The ED is currently conducting investigations into two cases related to a land scam in Ranchi, with Chhavi Ranjan being named as an accused in both cases. The specific case for which he has sought bail pertains to alleged land transactions on Cheshire Home Road, facilitated with the use of fake documents.
