Former Jamshedpur MP urges CM to halt encroachment drives in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Senior Congress leader and former Jamshedpur MP Dr.  Ajoy  Kumar has shot a letter to the Chief Minister, expressing serious concerns over the recent encroachment notices issued to residents in Sakchi. The notices, initiated by the East Singhbhum District Office of the Zonal Officer, Jamshedpur, target residents of account number 245, plot number 110, ward number 7, Sakchi, under the Jharkhand Public Land Encroachment Act.

The notice, dated July 6, provides the residents with a 14-day period to respond, demanding clarifications by July 20. Failure to comply will result in the forcible removal of the encroachments. This has instilled fear and uncertainty among the residents, many of whom claim to have lived on the land for over 50 years, with established utilities such as Jusco water and electricity connections.

Dr. Ajoy  Kumar highlighted the distress of the residents, who approached him in Jamshedpur. He emphasized their long-term residency and the integration of basic amenities as evidence of their established presence on the land.

Dr. Kumar voiced strong allegations, suggesting that the encroachment notices may be part of a larger conspiracy orchestrated by certain government officials. He accused these officials of harassing the poor and acting under a BJP-influenced mindset. Dr. Kumar called for the identification of such officials and urged the coalition government of Jharkhand to initiate an investigation into their actions.

In his letter, Dr. Kumar appealed to the Chief Minister to consider the plight of the residents and to safeguard their homes. He reiterated that the coalition government has always prioritized the security and welfare of the poor, and such actions by rogue officials contradict this ethos. He demanded a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the affected residents and to prevent any undue harassment.

The issuance of encroachment notices in Sakchi has sparked significant concern and controversy, with Dr. Ajoy  Kumar stepping in to advocate for the residents. His appeal to the Chief Minister highlights the need for careful consideration of the residents’ long-term presence and the legitimacy of their claims.
