Jamshedpur Muharram-2024: Police issue warning to rumour mongers, no permission to change route  

Jamshedpur: As Muharram approaches, district authorities have issued a stern warning against spreading false information and rumours, particularly on social media. Citizens are urged to report any misleading information immediately to the nearest police station or administrative officials to prevent any disruption of social harmony. Special surveillance will be maintained at sensitive locations, with dedicated teams monitoring social media to thwart any attempts by mischievous elements to disturb the peace.

In a crucial meeting held at the Ravindra Bhawan auditorium in Sakchi, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner  Ananya Mittal and Senior Superintendent of Police  Kishore Kaushal convened with Central Peace Committee members and licensees of various Muharram Committees. The session focused on strategies to maintain law and order during Muharram-2024.

The officials emphasized that there will be no changes to the traditional procession routes. Muharram committees must adhere strictly to the approved paths, and any deviations will be closely monitored. Administration and police officials are tasked with verifying these routes in advance to ensure a smooth procession.

Feedback from peace committee meetings in various police station areas was reviewed. Concerns regarding drinking water, electricity, and other basic facilities raised by the Muharram Committees were addressed with assurances of prompt action.

To ensure peace during Muharram, an adequate number of magistrates, police officers, and police forces will be deployed. Strict measures were outlined against biker gangs and individuals causing disturbances under the influence of alcohol. The district administration stressed the importance of vigilance and preparedness to handle any potential incidents.

Muharram committees were urged to foster peace and communal harmony during the observance. They were asked to provide a list of 20 volunteers to the concerned police station in-charge, with an active committee member assigned to monitor anti-social elements during the processions.

The meeting concluded with a strong call for cooperation and unity during Muharram. The proactive measures taken by the administration, along with community involvement, aim to ensure a peaceful and orderly observance of Muharram-2024.

Senior officials present at the meeting included Deputy Development Commissioner  Manish Kumar, City cum Rural SP  Rishabh Garg, ADM (SOR)  Mahendra Kumar, Director NEP  Ajay Sao, SDM Ghatshila, and other district-level departmental officers. Their collective efforts, along with the community’s support, are set to uphold the spirit of Muharram in a peaceful and harmonious manner.
