Former DSE accused in teachers’ recruitment scam

Jamshedpur: Deputy Superintendent of Education (DSE), East Singhbhum, Banke Bihari Singh has been found guilty in the teachers’ recruitment scam of Dhanbad by a three member inquiry committee. The committee was led by the Joint secretary of Education Department Devendra Bhushan Singh. The team has handed the report to the Principal Secretary of School Education and Literacy.

Singh was earlier posted as the DSE of Dhanbad. In the year 2015-16, teachers were recruited in Dhanbad allegedly in an anomalous manner. Government rules and regulations were allegedly disregarded in the appointments. As many as 156 teachers were inducted by bending the rules. The inquiry committee found the allegations true after checking the academic documents of the candidates.

An FIR was lodged against many teachers who were also sacked. Neelkanth Mandal, president of Jharkhand State Primary Teachers’ Association had sought a departmental inquiry and sacking of all accused persons including Banke Bihari Singh.
