Saryu Roy inaugurates Park at Sonari
Jamshedpur, June 20 : Citizens can look forward to open-air gyms and senior citizen corners in different parts of the city in the next few years. Jusco, a Tata Steel subsidiary, is working on a plan to set up several open air gyms will come up at spots used by morning and evening walkers.
Managing director of Jusco Ashish Mathur, while addressing the inaugural function of a park at Ram Mandir Area of Sonarisaid that as part of their effort to make the city smart they have decided to set up free open-air gyms soon along Kadma-Sonari Link Road, which is used by large number of walkers both during morning and evening.
The gyms will be equipped with shoulder rehabilitation device, surfboard exerciser, back massager, elliptical cross-trainer, waist-twisting table, and stepper.
“ We are also working to set senior citizen sitting area. The concept built at Sonari Ram Mandir Park will be replicated in other parks. We are planning to develop another one near Ashiana Garden in Sonari in next two months,’ said Mathur.
He said that Jamshedpur is the collective responsibility of all the citizens and not only of JUSCO and Tata Steel. JUSCO can make an effort and provide facilities but it is the responsibility of every citizen to protect and maintain it. He also spoke about the upcoming facilities that are planned in the town and requested all present to actively participate to make Jamshedpur a smart’er’ city.
Meanwhile, state food and civil supplies minister, Saryu Roy who was the chief guest of the inaugural function, spoke on the need for all stakeholders to actively help in maintaining facilities developed by Jusco.
He stressed that all communities, stakeholders, government, local authorities and service providers have to come together and sought out solutions to the town’s problems. Though the expectations of people will always are more yet they also have to look at the limitations of the service providers.
