Forest dept seeks list of dangerous trees

Jamshedpur: Forest department has sought details from JUSCO about trees threatening to cause injury or damage to property during the rainy season.

With the onset of monsoon, the department wants to know as to how many trees are dangerously situated across the city. Once the details are given, the department will take decision on giving permission to cut down the trees partially or completely.

Divisional forest officer (DFO) of Dhalbhum, Saba Alam Ansari, said trees which have dried up or become weak should be identified. Those trees that threaten to come down during storms should be cut down after verification with due permission of the forest department, said the DFO.

Recently, three women, all vegetable vendors, had died during rains near Kasidih High School under Sakchi PS after coming under a wall which collapsed under the load of a fallen tree.
