Jamshedpur, Oct 16: An initiative, ‘For Your Eyes Only’ was launched by Rotary Club of Jamshedpur on World Sight Day. PDG Ronald D’Costa, while informing about the project stated, “Its a sustainable project to provide free glasses to those who help us make our lives easier and Rotary has launched this project in Jamshedpur and free eye checkup and spectacles accordingly will be distributed among cooks, housemaids, gardeners, parking attendants, guards, truck drivers and other helping hands who need them.”
President Rotarian Madhumita Santra, while appreciating this thinking and positive initiative, highlighted the World Sight Day. She said, “Each year, the World Health Organization (WHO) launches a project based on a theme. This year, the theme is, ‘Love Your Eyes,’ in view of eyesight fallibility. The basic purpose is to make people aware of the conditions that adversely affect sight and the preventive and preservative measures.”
Among those [present at the launch of the project were Past District Governor Ronald D’Costa, President Rotarian Madhumita Santra, Darshana Taunk, Deepak Taunk, Jagan Santra, Avinash Duggar, Rajiv Agarwal, N Ramamurthy, Arun Raisurana, Mangilal Chawla, Pramod Dubey, Sunit Kumar, Gopal Taneja, Dr. Bachchu Master, Katy Gabba and DN Jena.
