Protest against Rs 100 parking fee at Mango Bus Stand
Jamshedpur, July 28: The cart owners, footpath vendors and auto drivers who are being forced to pay Rs 100 as parking fee for carrying on their businesses inside and outside the Mango bus stand in Bhuiyandih, protested before the DC office on Saturday.
In absence of DC Amit Kumar, the protestors submitted a memorandum to DDC B Maheshwari demanding to scrap the the parking fee with immediate effect so that the poor who are autodrivers or rickshaw pullers donít suffer. Congress leaders also supported their demand.
The protestors said that the footpath vendors who have been doing business inside and outside the bus stand for years are being extorted in the name of parking fee by the staff of the parking agency on a daily basis. They further said that the parking staffs were not allowing the vendors to do business without paying the said amount.
Bike owners are also been forced to pay parking charge. Earlier, on Friday, auto drivers, rickshaw pullers and cart owners protested before the Mango Bus Stand demanding to scrap parking fee by the contractor and Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC).
Senior Congress leader Anand Bihari Dubey, Samanto Kumar, Subodh Singh Sardar, Youth Congress state secretary Rakesh Sahu, JMM leader Tarkeshwar Goldy Tiwary, Ajay Mishra, Bablu Naushad, Sanjay Singh, Jitendra Singh, Srinivas Rao, Amit Pandey, Sushil Ghosh, Manju Das, Neha Sharma and others joined the protest on Saturday.
Cycle, rickshaw owners being charged Rs 30
Jamshedpur, July 28: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) had finalized the bandobasti of Mango Bus Stand parking lot during open bidding which took place at JNAC office on July 10.
The bus stand bandobasti was finalised at Rs 1, 97,15,000 crore. The parking for the stand was given to Raghvendra Pratap Singh. Accoring to JNAC, parking is free for cycle, rickshaw and e-rickshaw owners but the protestors on Saturday said that Rs 30 is being charged from them. Rs 10 is the parking charge for passenger auto rickshaw but they also alleged that Rs 30 is being charged.
