Focus now on attracting industries and employment generation: Jharkhand CM

Foundation stone for Dalmia Cement second unit laid within 3 months of inking pact

Ranchi, Dec 6: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren said that it was priority for the government that maximum capital investment should happen in state and is trying to attract industries with a better Jharkhand Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy 2021.
Addressing a function  while laying the foundation stone of the second unit of Dalmia Bharat Cement Plant at Balidih in Bokaro on Monday, Sorene said it was a start. In the coming days, many big industries will be set up here, which will create employment opportunities on a large scale.

“It is a special priority of the government that maximum capital investment should be done in the state. A better Jharkhand Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy – 2021 has been made so that Industrial houses can come forward and set up industries in this state, the government will extend full cooperation to them,” said Soren.

The Chief Minister said that it was only a few months after the formation of the government that the Covid pandemic impacted the affairs and the economy in 2020.
“The system was completely disturbed. In the midst of all this, our government continued to think about life and livelihood. Made an action plan with time, which benefited people during the Covid period and is still happening today. As we are constantly moving towards normalcy in life we have started implementing policy for development of the state including employment to locals,” added Soren.

Hinting at state government going all out to woo investors, Soren said, “A new industrial policy was made.  We are putting the policies and objectives in front of the business world. Industrialists have appreciated our policy and are expressing their desire to set up industries here. In this sequence, Dalmia Group stepped forward for the cement factory and signed an MoU with the Industries Department., Both government and the Dalmia Group kept their promise. We assure that we will fully cooperate in making Dalmia Cement Factory established in the state one of the leading cement producing factories of the country.”

The Chief Minister said that if the government gives land to industrial houses, then they should use it for setting up industries and not keep it empty for people to encroach.
“Because, with great expectations, the poor original landholders give their land so that they can get an opportunity to be empowered with employment,” said Soren.

The State Government has provided 16 acres of land for Dalmia Bharat Cement Plant expansion Project in Balidih Industrial Area of Bokaro District.

The Dalmia Bharat Cement Plant already established here has a production capacity of 3.7 million tonnes per annum. With the commissioning of the new unit, the annual production capacity will increase to 6.2 million tonnes. For this the company will invest Rs 567 crore. It is worth mentioning that under the Jharkhand Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy- 2021, an MoU was signed between Dalmia Cement India Limited and the Industries Department in the Investors Summit held in the presence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren in New Delhi in August this year for the establishment of a cement plant.

Dalmia Bharat Group’s Managing Director Puneet Dalmiya and MD and CEO of the group  Mahendra Singhi were also present on the occasion.
