Ranchi, July 16: A flag march, led by City SP Rajkumar Mehta and Kotwali DSP Prakash Soy, was conducted on Monday to ensure peace and harmony during Muharram. The march passed through several key areas including Albert Ekka Chowk, Main Road, Daily Market, Urdu Library, Anjuman Plaza, Akra Masjid, Karbala Chowk, and Church Road. The women’s battalion of CRPF also participated in this march.
Ranchi SSP Chandan Sinha assured that robust security measures had been implemented across the district for Muharram. He stated that over 200 locations had static police deployment, supported by Quick Response Teams (QRT) and regular patrolling was being conducted by senior police officers.
The SSP urged the public to observe Muharram peacefully and to cooperate wholeheartedly. He emphasized that strict action would be taken against any anti-social elements. From a security perspective, the city was already under extensive CCTV coverage, and efforts were being made to install cameras at all sensitive locations. Social media was being continuously monitored from the control room, and SSP Sinha encouraged residents to report any objectionable or provocative posts, photos, or videos to the control room for prompt action.
No vehicle entry in Ranchi on July 17 for Muharram procession
Ranchi, July 16: The Muharram festival will be observed on July 17, and processions will be taken out from various Akharas in Ranchi city. In this context, the Ranchi Traffic SP office announced that the movement of private and passenger vehicles would be suspended from 10 AM on July 17 until the end of the procession. Traffic will be diverted as necessary on other routes within the city.

These traffic diversions were put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the Muharram processions and the safety of the participants. People in general were advised to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with the traffic regulations.
