Five KV students killed in car accident near Ramgarh

Ranchi: Five school children were killed in two separate road accidents in Ramgarh on Sunday.

Sources said five students of Kendriya Vidyalaya were killed when a speeding car carrying them turned turtle on the way to Patratu Dam near Balkudra village. The incident occurred around 11 am when the students were going to visit the dam.
According to eye-witnesses, the car coming from Bhadaninagar collided with the footpath at high speed. The driver turned the car towards right, leading the car to ram into the divider. The car went up in the air around 10 feet high and fell on the footpath on the right side.

In the impact, four of the students including a girl died at the scene. Another student was critically injured. He died during treatment at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, sources said.

The accident occurred on the Ramgarh-Ranchi route via Pithoria four-lane highway under Basal outpost police station, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (headquarters) Birendra Kumar Choudhary.

The deceased, class X and XII students, were identified as Saloni Raj, Anish Kumar Singh, Rahul Kumar, Harsh Kumar and Abhishek Mirdha. The car belonged to Mirdha�s grandmother and it was bought just a week ago, sources said, adding that Mirdha was driving the car at the time of the accident.

Eyewitnesses said the car could have fallen down the bridge as it was being driven at high speed.

According to Ved Vyas, father of Saloni Raj, �My daughter told me she was going to CCL Colony for a project work with her friends. But I later learnt that they had gone to Patratu valley.�
