State Disability Commissioner visits Special School of Joy, assures support

Jamshedpur: Satish Chandra, State Disability Commissioner, Jharkhand, Rajnish Kumar, Member, State Advisory Committee on Disability Management and Laxmi Bharti, District Social Welfare Officer, East Singhbhum made maiden visit to Indian Steel & Wire Products (IWO) supported Special School of Joy on Sunday to encourage the school management.

Situated at Indra Nagar in Jamshedpur, Special School of Joy for the last four years is engaged at providing best of modern special education and therapeutic services to the special children with developmental disabilities like Autistic, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Slow Learners, Mental Retardation.

Special children are provided therapeutic educational and vocational development to children; enrich their potential, make them productive as integral member of society. They have successfully sent eight of their students back to regular schools.

The school has the facility of day boarding where children are taken care by experienced Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) registered special educators with therapists (OT & PT, Yoga, Art & Craft, Speech), Clinical Psychologists, care giver trainers. Currently it has 18 whole time staff for 36 students who have enrolled and expected to increase the intake to 50.

Special children Akash Paramanik, Laxmi, Shubham, Roshni and Shivam presented yoga to the dignitaries and the care givers welcome them with a song. Satish Chandra was all praise for the great efforts and services being extended by the ISWP management and Special School of Joy being looked after by Susmita Dey Roy Head HR & PRO, Soumya Ranjan Head Administration and Shikha Chakravarty Head Academics under the patronage of Sanjay Tiwari, Trustee.

Both Satish Chandra and Laxmi Bharti assured to provide all government schemes and grants to these special children, their parents and organization looking after them will be extended at the earliest. Rajnish Kumar who coordinated the visit as State Advisory Committee Member appreciated the initiatives taken by the school and assured his personal expertise and guidance to see that these children gets into the mainstream of the society.

Rabi Narayan Kar, Company Secretary, GM/Legal of ISWP which has adopted the school as one of their CSR initiatives promised to extend more facilities to make these children real place of joy and living.
