Ranchi, Nov 28: Chief Minister Hemant Soren approved significant administrative changes in Jharkhand, transferring three IPS officers and making key appointments following a cabinet meeting.
Anurag Gupta, previously with CID Ranchi, has been reappointed as the Director General of Police (DGP), replacing Ajay Kumar Singh. Singh has been reassigned as MD-cum-Chairman of Jharkhand Police Housing Corporation Limited.

In Deoghar, Ajit Peter Dungdung returns as SP after being removed by the Election Commission during the elections. He was previously Commandant of JAP 5. Amber Lakra, the outgoing Deoghar SP, has been appointed Commandant of Dhanbad’s JAP 3 and will also oversee operations as Dhanbad Railway SP.
Additionally, with the government transition, Ranchi’s Deputy Commissioner Varun Ranjan has been replaced by Manjunath Bhajantri. Bhajantri, formerly posted in Jamshedpur and later removed by the Election Commission, has now been appointed Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi.
Avinash Kumar has been assigned as the Principal Secretary to CM Hemant Soren. Kumar will also handle additional responsibilities, including the Energy Department, Development Commissioner, CMD Energy Development Corporation, Chief Resident Commissioner, and Jharkhand Bhawan.
The Personnel Department has issued official orders for these changes, underscoring the state government’s effort to streamline administrative operations post-election.
