Jamshedpur, Oct 24: A festive evening turned tragic in Chhota Govindpur area in the outskirts of Jamshedpur when an 11-year-old boy, Piyush Kumar Gupta, a fourth grader of Rose Buds School, was seriously injured in a firecracker explosion on Thursday evening.
According to reports, Piyush was playing with his friends and trying to extract gunpowder from used firecrackers when one of them suddenly exploded.
The blast caused severe burns to his face, hands, and legs.
Hearing his screams, his father rushed to the spot and immediately took him to MGM Hospital, where doctors began treatment.
His condition is said to be stable now.
Piyush’s mother said he often played with his friends after school and was attempting to light or open a leftover firecracker when the explosion occurred.
Family members and doctors are closely monitoring his recovery.
The incident serves as a reminder for parents to keep children away from unsafe firecracker handling, especially during the festive season.
