Filariasis Eradication: Directives issued for 100% medicine consumption

Jamshedpur: Following the directives of Deputy Commissioner, Ananya Mittal, Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar conducted a thorough inspection at Baliguma UPHC (Urban Health and Wellness Center) late in the evening. The visit aimed to assess the existing sanitation system and gather information on the ongoing filariasis eradication campaign.

During the inspection,  Kumar meticulously evaluated the health facilities, patient care, and overall operations of Baliguma UPHC. He took note of the availability of medicines, the presence of medical staff, and the quality of care provided to patients.

He also took information about the progress of the filariasis eradication campaign and directed to ensure 100% consumption of medicine among the missing people in the surrounding areas.

The Deputy Development Commissioner commended the cleanliness and hygiene practices at the UPHC and emphasized the need to sustain the high standards of facilities and health services in the future.

In line with the ongoing filariasis eradication campaign under the Mass Drug Administration (MDA) program from February 10 to February 25,  Manish Kumar gathered information on the progress of the campaign. The Civil Surgeon, Dr. Jujhar Manjhi, reported that over 50 individuals receive medication daily at the center.

During the campaign, more than 15 missing individuals, including the Deputy Development Commissioner’s bodyguard, were successfully administered medication.  Manish Kumar stressed the importance of widespread consumption of medicine in the surrounding areas to effectively control diseases such as elephantiasis.

Present during the inspection were Civil Surgeon Dr. Jujhar Manjhi, medical staff, Sahiya, NULM representatives, para personnel, and other stakeholders involved in the health and wellness initiatives.

The Deputy Development Commissioner’s visit signifies a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of healthcare and sanitation, aligning with the district’s public health objectives.

  1. Appeal to both DCs of ES and Saraikela, Tamolia basti being border of two Districts connected with one old bridge on the verge of collapse. Mineral mafia transporting said, stone chips, steel during night time on this bridge half broken. Basti Public leaving their sewerage water on public service road. No drianage system taken place on this basic. Administration is fully neglected resulting a lot of diseases. No department is bothered to develop this basti. No roads, no street lights. Before Gobind Vidyalaya school road is always blocked with sewerage water leaving by residents. Typical type of diseases developed atvthis area in children. No body cares on welfare of children and Public. Request TAM to cover news and narrate sufferings of Public. Encroachment on Public service roads.
