Ranchi: In a tragic incident on Monday near the Ukrid BP petrol pump on the Ranchi-Ramgarh highway, a Singh coach bus (JH-22 V 4581), en route from Jamshedpur to Ara, collided with a moving Hiva (JH 10 AR 6945) while overtaking. The collision resulted in the overturning of the bus, causing injuries to numerous passengers on board.
The bus driver, after the accident, abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, leaving passengers in distress for about half an hour. Desperate cries for help echoed from the overturned bus until the Ormanjhi police arrived and took charge of the situation. Five seriously injured passengers were promptly transported to RIMS (Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences).
Tragically, Vishwanath Singh (51), a resident of Madhusudan Path, Kadma Ulyan, lost his life in the accident. He worked in a private company in Jamshedpur. Among the injured, his daughter, Anjali Kumari (22), is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS. Reports suggest that one passenger suffered the severance of a limb in the unfortunate incident.
The authorities are conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident, and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the bus driver who fled the scene.
