Family of 5, Including 3 Kids, Killed in Jharkhand Road Mishap

Simdega (IANS): A horrific road accident killed five people—including a couple and their three children—and seriously injured four others in Jharkhand’s Simdega district on Thursday, officials said.

The crash occurred near Agharma on the Gumla-Simdega road under Kolebira police station limits when a Scorpio carrying nine passengers went out of control and crashed.

Reports indicate the passengers were traveling from Lohardaga to Lasia to attend a family function when the driver lost control near Agharma, causing the accident.

The severe impact badly mangled the vehicle.

The accident triggered panic at the scene. Local residents rushed to the site, initiated rescue efforts, and pulled the injured from the vehicle. Together with the police, they later shifted all the injured passengers to a hospital for treatment.

Preliminary information suggests the crash killed a husband, his wife, and their three children, while seriously injuring four others.

However, officials stated they had yet to officially confirm detailed information regarding the victims’ identities and the exact death toll at the time of writing this report.

Police and administrative officials reached the spot soon after receiving the news and supervised relief and rescue operations. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident.

Meanwhile, Simdega MLA Bhushan Bara and Zila Parishad member Josima Khakha visited the accident site, reviewed the relief work, and expressed condolences to the bereaved families.

Bara urged the administration to provide compensation and other government assistance to the victims’ families according to established norms.

Local residents alleged that the ambulance failed to reach the spot on time despite receiving immediate notification, which delayed emergency medical aid to the injured.
