Experts inspire metallurgy students at NIT Jamshedpur interactive session

IIM Jamshedpur Chapter connects students with leaders from academia, R&D, and industry

Jamshedpur, Nov 11: The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) Jamshedpur Chapter organized an interactive session with students of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (MME) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur on Tuesday. The event brought together industry experts, researchers, and academicians to inspire young metallurgists and material scientists.


The program was graced by eminent dignitaries including Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director of CSIR-NML Jamshedpur, Dr. Gautam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, Chaitanya Bhanu, Vice President of Tata Steel Ltd, Dr. Atanu Ranjan Pal, Chairman of IIM Jamshedpur Chapter, and Prof. Ashok Kumar, Head of the MME Department. Over 200 students and faculty members participated in the event, along with senior professionals such as Dr. Soumitra Tarafder, Dr. V. C. Srivastava, Dr. Himanshu Mishra, and Dr. T. K. Roy.
Dr. Atanu Ranjan Pal delivered an insightful address highlighting the scope and advantages of being associated with the IIM platform. He encouraged students to explore career opportunities, startups, and innovative research ideas to strengthen the future of metallurgical science in India.
Inspiring the audience, Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Dr. Sutradhar, and Chaitanya Bhanu emphasized the growing relevance of metallurgists and material scientists across diverse sectors of engineering. They urged students to actively engage in IIM activities, industry-academia collaborations, and skill development programs for professional growth.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Gopi Kishor Mandal, Secretary of IIM Jamshedpur Chapter and Chief Scientist at CSIR-NML, who appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and the support of all dignitaries.
