Experts focus on fitness on day 2 of Photo exhibition at Karim City College   

Jamshedpur: Enthusiasm ruled the second day of a three-day photo exhibition cum awareness programme on Fit India, under the joint aegis of Central Bureau of Communications, Gumla and Department of Mass Communication, Karim City College. Special session on solo dance and Fit India based on Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav was organised.

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and remember the glorious history of 75 years of progressive India and the culture and achievements of its people. Under this, a photo exhibition cum awareness program is being organised from December 20 to December 22, at the auditorium of Karim City College.

On the second day of the exhibition, a special session on Fit India was organised for the students of Karim City College. The programme started with the address of Dr. Mohammad Riaz, Principal, Karim City College, in which he called upon the students to be a part of the Fit India Movement. Later, Harbhajan Singh, vice president, Jharkhand Olympic Association, the special guest, while addressing the gathering said that Fit India is an important initiative of the Government of India and people of all ages should take care of their physical health. Along with this, he shared the merits of the karate game to the students.

International karate coach and referee, Nageswara Rao taught self-defense tricks to the children under Fit India. Along with 20 of his students, he performed karate and made them aware about physical laziness and agility in the presence of about 150 students. In this session, which lasted for about one and a half hours, everyone learned and practiced Karate very enthusiastically.

Dr. Neha Tiwari, head of department, Karim City College felicitated Harbhajan Singh while field publicity officer of Central Bureau of Communications Mehwish Rehman felicitated Nageswara Rao by giving memento, shawl and bouquet. The students of Mass Communication Department and NCC of Karim City College specially participated in this program and the enthusiasm of these children was visible. Syed Sajid and Syed Shahzeb coordinated the program to make this program successful. Dr. Rashmi Kumari, Taseer Shahid and Bapi Murmu of Mass Communication Department were present in the programme.

In the second phase of the program on the second day of the exhibition, a solo dance competition based on the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence was organized, the theme of which was Lokrang of India. The students showcased the rainbow colors of folk dances of India which included tableaus of dances from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Bengal. Thereafter, tribal dance was presented by the registered troupe of Song and Drama Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, on which all the students danced collectively in the auditorium. The prizes for the solo dance competition will be announced tomorrow.
