Expert Lecture on ‘National Scientific Temper Day’ held at Srinath University

Jamshedpur, Aug 20: Srinath University marked National Scientific Temper Day 2025 with a special lecture session aimed at promoting logical thinking and rational inquiry among students. The program commenced with a welcome address by Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) S. N. Singh, who encouraged students to cultivate curiosity and approach every subject with a questioning mindset.

Chief guest and keynote speaker, Shailendra Avasthana, retired Assistant Director, Quality Assurance, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, highlighted the scientific essence in Buddha’s teachings and stressed the importance of leading a rational life.

Dr. Kiran Shukla, former Head of Botany, Kolhan University, elaborated on Darwin’s theory of evolution while linking it to superstitions still prevalent in society. Dr. Kanay Barik, Assistant Professor of Physics at Ghatsila College, traced the historical journey of science and the pivotal role of scientists in shaping human progress.

Adding to the discourse, Dr. Tarun Kumar Mahato, Head of Mathematics at Srinath University, urged students to nurture rationality and develop the habit of asking thought-provoking questions.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Prashant Kumar Mohapatra, Principal of the School of Pharmacy, who extended gratitude to all speakers, guests, and participants for making the program a success.
