Jamshedpur, Oct 24: In view of the heavy rush of devotees during the Chhath festival, the East Singhbhum traffic police have announced a revised traffic plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety.
The new plan, approved by the Traffic DSP, SSP, and Deputy Commissioner, will remain in effect from October 26 to October 28.
Although preparations for the festival have already begun from October 24, the traffic restrictions will officially start on October 26 — the day of Kharna.
As per the directive, on October 26, the movement of all types of heavy vehicles will be allowed in both directions from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
After that, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., the entry of all goods-carrying vehicles, except passenger buses, will be strictly prohibited within city limits.
On October 27, heavy vehicles will be permitted to operate between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. only.
Thereafter, from 7 a.m. on October 27 until 3 p.m. on October 28, the movement of all heavy and goods vehicles will remain completely banned in the city.
Finally, on October 28, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., only outbound movement of heavy vehicles from the city will be allowed.
The traffic department has appealed to all transporters and drivers to cooperate with the administration to maintain order and ensure the safety of devotees during the Chhath festival.
