Enhanced security measures planned for Tatanagar Station: RPF and GRP Collaborate

Jamshedpur: In a concerted effort to bolster security at Tatanagar station, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Police are set to collaborate in the coming days. A strategic plan will be devised during a coordination meeting scheduled for January, aiming to address and augment security measures in and around Tatanagar station. Railway Superintendent of Police (SP) Rishabh Jha shared that discussions will encompass bolstering security through a comprehensive audit of both entry gates and the station’s parking facilities.

Any identified deficiencies in the existing security infrastructure will be promptly rectified. The strategy involves the installation of CCTV cameras and the deployment of personnel where necessary. Coordination with railway officials will also be undertaken to implement these measures effectively.

Highlighting the ongoing challenge of manpower shortages within the Railway Police, the SP noted that repeated appeals to the RPF for improved security arrangements have been made. Despite these appeals, no substantial initiative has been taken thus far. Previously, the foot bridge had been temporarily closed following an incident in the parking area. However, after public requests, the foot bridge was reopened. The current state of the foot bridge, being less frequented, has led to the gathering of anti-social elements, creating concerns for security, with people also sleeping on the adjacent footpath.
