Ranchi: Alarming threats to the safety of Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers engaged in probing multiple cases, including land scams and illegal mining scams, have prompted an increase in security measures. The responsibility for safeguarding ED officers has been entrusted to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Sources indicate that the Union Home Ministry has issued directives to the State Police concerning the protection of ED officers. These officers have come under severe threats as a result of conspiracies aimed at falsely implicating them and causing them harm.
Disturbingly, the conspirators not only plotted to frame ED officers in fabricated cases but also sought to inflict harm upon two of them. To facilitate this sinister plan, the accused individuals even engaged a notorious gangster from Jharkhand and collaborated with one of his associates incarcerated in Ranchi jail.
In response to this threat, the Enforcement Directorate conducted a raid at the Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi on Friday. Earlier intelligence reports had indicated that after wrongfully implicating an ED officer in a Scheduled Tribes-Scheduled Castes (ST-SC) case in Dhurwa, a scheme was devised within the confines of the jail to level more serious charges against the officer.
Furthermore, it has come to light that the conspirators initially attempted to enlist the assistance of Naxalites to harm ED officers, but this overture was flatly rejected by the Naxalites. Subsequently, the plotters turned to a Jharkhand-based gangster to orchestrate their menacing plans.
